Used SIII 16 plate with 5000miles! 57 mph for 87 hours straight?

Featured Replies

I was looking at the approved used site as I really wanted a close up view of the halogen headlights.

When looking I found a 16 plate SE with 5000 miles on it!!!

So it made me wonder, it is 3pm on 4th March, if the car was valeted, prepared and posted in the past 5 mins it would have had 87 hours as a 16 plate (assuming the dealer was in at midnight on the 1st).

5000 / 87 = 57.47mph average.  Of course it could be a typo and sure I could be doing my sums wrong but I thought it is quite a quirky ad.

Serious delivery miles on this Superb. :)

*it also says it has a black leather interior but the pics say differently. Just a bit of fun.

It could be their new demo car which they are not allowed to sell until it has 5000 miles on the clock, so the car will probably not be available right now.

As it states at the bottom of the advert "This vehicle will be available to purchase shortly. Please contact the Retailer to discuss when the vehicle will be available for sale".

EDIT: Reading the advert again it does say "Available from : 02/06/2016 #", so not available until 2nd June, by which time it will have 5k on the clock.

They can't be offered for sale until 6 months old if it's a dealer demonstrator.

I don't know if things have changed since I sold cars, but the general rule used to be 3 months after registration by the dealer, but there was always the odd exception for the customer who really forced (in a nice way) the dealers hand ;)

I bought my current i40 from under the salesman's nose (he was using it as 'his' car) as a demonstrator. It was 3 months old and had 2.5k miles on the clock.
