Hello Peeps

Currently a 1.8VVTI Celica owner, which in most circumstances is a great car, if a little down on power.

Anyway after many many trips to the Nurburgring on motorbikes, I finally went in the car. What a great weekend it was, however the Celica really struggled over many parts of the circuit, especially from Ex Muhle onwards where it's mostly uphill.

Hence, me joining this forum and approaching the world of Skoda. I've read and researched the Octavia vRS and cannot find anything negative about it and therefore it's looking highly likely that I'll be buying one come 2006.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, particularly from anyone that's taken a vRS around the Ring.

Welcome to Briskoda. :D We have a few members who visit the Ring regularly.

I've now done over 900 Ring laps in the Octy :D

Not bad really, especially if you "chip" it. Best BTG so far, in the RS, 8'32" with T13 closed (you know, when they put the chicaney bit in), for my current diesel one, 8'51" :D

Getting it remapped might help, Jon.

Removing the Taxi sign from the roof would help more :D

You know that Jon is a Modabstainer though...don't you Denis?;)

His SDi is as standard as Des' RS.

8.32 BTG is a very quick lap, especially considering the T13 closure taking you through the old pits area. The 900 laps has clearly paid off.

That many laps, are you UK based or more local to the Ring?

Based between Somerset, Walsall and Chesterfield throughout the week.

How often do you go over on the bike? I know quite a few bikers who I used to go with (and used to try and set fire to with the flames from my exhaust when I passed them through corners :D )

Mad Liam the Irishman and Phil (from the FJ owners who had a GSX 900 rebadged and bodykitted as a 600 :D ) were two I went regularly with. My car was used for transporting the luggage :D

I first went to the Ring in 1993 but started going regular (3/4 times a year) from about 1997. I am currently based in Northants but used to live in London which is where most of my biker mates are from (and Essex).

A pal of mine had a bad bike smash at Pflanzgarten last year after losing the front on oil. That was enough for me on the bike, especially considering how popular the Ring is now, thus increasing the liklihood of oil spills.

My car trip was mid Nov and great. There were 2 laps where I didn't see another car or bike whatsoever. Sadly the celica really wasn't up to the job, 140HP really wasn't enough as the hills, however slight killed it. The whole thing was made worse as I went with a GT3, 355 Ferarri, 2x944T and a 968CS.

Do you rate the vRS?

Reliability is a major factor for me, especially after owning Toyotas & Mazdas.
