Noise then radio went off then came back on.

Featured Replies

Driving to work today i had a loud bang (like something hitting a car window) then i noticed my car radio had gone off so i assume the noise i heard came through the speakers but after 10 sec's my radio came back on & has been fine since...  has anybody else had this happen? is this a sign that the radio unit could be on its way out?

I assume you have the Steam headunit?

It's a common problem. Apparently it is improved with a firmware update, but only Skoda themselves can do it, and most dealers won't bother these days as they're well out of warranty.

Thanks softscoop, yes its a stream headunit, its nearly 8 years old & this is the first time its shown a problem,i will monitior it & if it fails then i will look at upgrading the head unit.

Had my PFL mk2 for over 10 years. It has an Audience 6cd MP3. Had the same thing happen 2 or 3 times in it's life. No other ill effects though and the last time was about 4 years ago.

We had some problems with the Stream MP3 we had. It was part of the reason for the upgrade to the Columbus.

Ours would make loud bangs and pops through the speakers randomly. It would then sometimes make a loud bang then just completely freeze until you could turn the ignition off and back on.

I did wonder what on earth had happened as there was no car nearby but i was convinced something had hit the window then i noticed the radio had gone off...but then it came back on & has been fine ever since...

This happened to me the other week, wondered what the he'll was going on. My parrot kit also stopped working until I cycled the ignition.
