Combi - Partition net screen - Retro / Aftermarket Options?

Featured Replies

Well, thought i would not need the Partition net screen so didnt bother with it.

Though now thinking about our trips, im thinking it would of been ideal to save having to use a roof box.

Does anyone have any suggests for after market options ? Ideally i would like a non permanent solution too.

Thanks in advance.

Any thoughts ?

the official factory fit solution looks too much hard work to fit.

so I looked at the retrofit with a mark II, and in the end, I didn't do it. I bought my mark III with it installed from the factory.

so.

to install it, you need to cut two holes very accurately in the headliner for the end receptacles, then punch in two rivnuts to hold them in. that handles the top end. you then need to install the net roller onto the back of the two-space wide seat, with the correct bolts (so you dont stab your rear passengers in the back).

its a bit of a mess, and i didn't fancy it, even though my pain threshold for DIY is pretty high.

you can get clip in dog guards that are much easier to fit (and remove) that would do the same thing, like the one you linked above.

Have a look at www.travall.co.uk,   I got a dog guard for my superb (TDG1495), and find it excellent,  it was easy to put together, and can be fitted and removed, in a matter of minutes.  Best of all, it requires no drilling into the headlining of the car, and therefore leaves no marks, when not fitted.

Unfortunately it doesn't fit with a panoramic sunroof

Thanks for this.. Really helpful.

From a litre boot space point of view.. Wonder how much extra this gives? (verses my 500 litre roof box)

I imagine that you could nearly double your boot space, as with the guard installed, you can fill the boot, up to the roof, with nothing coming through into cabin. The only problem, would be that your rear view, would be restricted, to what you could see, through your mirrors,  ( of course, if you have camera fitted, this will help, when reversing). No idea what this would be in litres though.

Thanks... I already have a roof box but need to buy the footpack, so was thinking... Do I really need the roof box if I got the dog guard?

I prefer the idea of 1000 mile round trips plus local travel without the box, plus over night parking with gear in there (in fairness it's normally only sleeping bags etc and low weight/value items up there.) Plus the mpg element.

(i have ordered a factory fit towbar as I have a 4 bike rack.)

Tough one...

Not sure you'd double it TBH, the rear window slopes in quite a lot.
