Bring it back...

Car has finally gone in for repair after AutoWindscreens decided to damage my A pillars in the process of fitting a new screen..as well as incorrectly fitting it too!...

and its place.. An Insignia SRi... I'm so glad I didn't go down the Vx route..got a 1.9 auto hirecar... its so laggy and unresponsive at slow speed and the gearbox change is really slow and noticeable.. not a patch on my vrs.. although it is a diesel so may be noticing the performance difference between the petrol...

Yeah, I was looking at Estates before the vrs..and was all for getting one but the I wanted something a bit more quicker off the mark...and the diesel didn't look that great on paper... nor does it in the flesh!!

not sure on the petrol version, but its a big lump of a car and I don't think the mpg figures would of suited. At least with the vrs it can be driven relatively economically..

I was getting an insignia before the octy, until I went to test drive one the driving position felt apauling and the while car felt loose.

We were given one as a hire car in Austria over half term. Whilst it undoubtedly felt 'tighter' than my nine year old Scout (I'd hope so at 10k vs 141k!) the boot was considerably smaller. Certainly not a contender...

I'd still have an insignia VXR quite happily mind.  300bhp 4WD :D

.....and they weigh in at about 2 ton!!

Still no sign of my vRS... will be 3 weeks Thursday to fix 2x 1-2 inch scratches and a small dent in the A pillar...

Should I be pushing them to compensate me too?..

That's a horrific wait for just a bodywork repair??

My next door neighbour works as a Vauxhall sales manager, and he drives.............a Passat. Says he wouldn't touch an Insignia with a bargepole. He reckons that it is the majority of those sold that have returned time and time again to the dealers for repairs and/or breakdowns.

Insignia might be not the best choice but don't blame all Vauxhall (Opel) cars.

Astras are known as reliable cars. Maybe they aren't  the most powerful ones but if you need a reliable car without high expenses in future then it might be your choice. Or at least it was some time before - nowadays all cars are not as good as they used to be.

Yaaaaay!!

Its back!!

2 days short of 4 weeks.. finally I can say good bye to the Insignia hire car...

well its all fixed.. bar the little car pass holder that still isn't flush against the screen but I guess I'm going to have to live with that!

god knows what they have used to 'valet' the car afterwards but the interior looked as though it had been wiped down with a cloth with car polish as there were wet cloth marks everywhere and the plastics and vinyls were so dry it was untrue..

The leather was really dry too..looked as though it had been baked in the sun it was that dry...

Just spent a good hour or two out in the sunshine treating the leather with rejuvenate stuff and Armorall for the interior (all I had until I get a new detailing order in)

It'll do for a week or two but I need to get the machine polisher out and do the rest of the car..and then a few weeks (once the pillars have cured) Ill do the upper pillars and roof..

2 days short of 4 weeks..

A colleague of mine once had her Yaris away for 3 (three) months... there were problems with engine and automatic gearbox as well (everything done by warranty). I understand that those were serious issues but anyway that seems to be a bit too much.

Maybe she didn't insist on getting car back sooner :)

If you remove the trim on the drivers side the ticket holder is only screwed in. You can get a new one and replace it.

If you want to be different, I believe you can fit one to the passenger side using the same method.
