From mk2 diesel to mk3 petrol

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm looking at changing my 2011 vrs diesel estate for a mk3 petrol equivalent. Only do about 7k a year and wanting to go back to petrol

Looking at getting a 2013 car as its local and pretty cheap (13k), done 43k miles but no toys which is a shame

Anything I should be looking out for? Other than the usual SH, bodywork, finance

Thanks

Which petrol engine? There have been some issues, but most are minor. I have heard of some water pump problems, but that should have appeared by now. The door seals sometimes retain water. Power tailgate struts can leak. I think the biggest issue is the "booming" noise that affects some cars. There is a long thread on the issue here, just be sure to get a good test drive over many different surfaces, especially washboard.

Edit - sorry, you said vRS, so the 2.0TSI.

1.4 150 act imho. I have it in seat leon and it's brilliant.

I got a late 2013 1.4 hatchback and have only put I angry hundred miles, but love it. Very nice engine

Looking at a Vrs petrol

Check the water pump and coolant level.

Thats pricey. I got mine a whole year plate newer (14) only a tadge more expensive than that and similar miles too, and that was at least 6 mths ago.

Canton+satnav too.

From a dealer.

Try and knock them down a bit I'd say, at least a K.

Really? It's the cheapest mk3 petrol Vrs estate out there, well on eBay and autotrader. However I do agree it's a lot of dough for a car that's barely 2 years newer

Decided to keep my mk2, especially as just had it serviced and new belt
