Hi all,

So tomorrow I am going to go view both these cars:

Skoda octavia 2.0 tdi sport (don't think that trim name exists in UK but it probably exists in another name)

103k miles

£5,990

111k miles

£3,800

(I'm in Portugal so I've converted the currency and km's)

Im going with a local mechanic so hopefully he'll be able to help me out if any of these are lemons. Also in the UK these maybe rip-off prices or high mileage but I assure you they are both good prices and the mileage here seems to go up to 3x as much no problem guess due to there not being rust problems.

Anyway what do you think and is there anything I should be looking for problem wise with either of these?

Thanks!

I was under the impression that the early 2.0 tdi engines, would suffer from the porous head issue?

I'm sure someone could elaborate on that though.

I thought it was only affected that engine when it was mounted in certain ways like it is on the audi a3 or something like that?

Ignore the thing I said that is about the oil pump.

So I viewed both cars the cheapest said it was in impeccable but it had a bad respray from white to black and was generally a heap of sh@t.

The other more expensive 2.0tdi had trouble starting and the engine had a load of steam coming out of it. It plus there was a big bottle of oil in the boot which wasn't a good sign. Perhaps that porous head that was mentioned...

Oh dear. Sounds like it's best to walk away from both of them then.
