Octavia automatic dsg gearbox slipping

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have had my 2011 Octavia with dsg 7 speed box for a year, now on 85000 miles and have had it regularly serviced. However the car is now slipping in 1st gear and was trying to find out what the problem might be. I was told by a guy called John from Skoda's main office sometime back that you do not have to renew/change gearbox oil, as it is for life. Which I find a bit strange.

Also I think there was a recall at some point for gearbox back in 2013.

Can anyone help and advise me?

Thanks.

Larry

The 6 speed wet clutch style dsg box needs its oil changing at 40k. Someone's misinformed you.

The OP has a 7 speed dsg, so the dealer is correct that the fluid is good for life.

As for why it's slipping......Maybe the clutch pack needs replaced or the mechatronics unit is faulty. It really needs proper diagnostics carried out to find out exactly what's wrong.

I wasn't aware the 7 speeder was around that early which is why I assumed he meant a 6 speed.
