Rasping noise

Featured Replies

Hi Guys.

I've noticed that my car has started making a rasping noise. It sounds like something is turning and scraping.

It seems to come from below the gearbox area unless I'm hearing it wrong. You can't hear it from the engine bay.

It sound much worse when the car is cold and is only just audible when the car is at proper temperature.

Thought please guys?

If you can, please replicate the issue and record a video so we can hear it. Will be easier to diagnose.

I've been out in the car and it was getting worse until I put the AC on and then it went.

When It does it, it gets faster with more RPM I use.

Nothing else effects it, clutch etc.

I will record it when it does it again.

Thanks.

Mine was the air con compressor. Sounded like a bag of nails. The budget fix used was a shorter belt missing out the compressor pulley. Not saying it's the same fault but worth a listen in that area.
