Don't try this at home kids!

Featured Replies

Guess someone already spotted this and posted something but not seen it .

Received my S3 on Wednesday and this afternoon on a quiet drive home on the m26 was trying out the ACC and lane assist. Had my hands have hovering over the steering wheel but wanted to see how the car reacted. Sure enough it tweaked the steering to keep me in the slow lane but also gave me a buzz and warning message on the maxi dot to take control. It then slowly did the same on the other side of the lane. A second and last warning buzz. Then what it simply gave me a wake up call by engaging the brakes in a sharp on off movement . Well I won't be trying that again, but very reassuring if I ever did properly snooze off. Technology is,wonderful but scary.

Yes tried it once at 0330 on the A2 (nothing else around me) just to see what it does!

That's on my list of things to try. I'm doing nights pretty soon so 3am on an empty road will do nicely. It's always nice to see how these systems work in the real world.

Now.....how to trigger the crew protection system..... :p

The next step (only with DSG and ACC active) would have been braking the vehicle to a stop, applying the parking brake and switching on the warning lights!!!

It's probably best to quote the Manual here...

■ The system is intended for emergency situations when the driver is suddenly unable to take over the steering task. Therefore, never try to test out the system - there is a risk of an accident!  :peek:
