Looking for a mobile recommendation for SMS continuous ringing

Featured Replies

Question in case anyone knows of a phone that does a continuous page on sms?

I'm on call for work which basically means if called i'll get a text message and have to respond within a certain time. What I'm looking for is a phone that will continue beeping until I deal with the message - as loud as possible.

The work provided phone is a S40 based Nokia ( think it's a c1-01) which doesn't ring more than twice and crashes when connecting a plantronics headset to it (some sort of bug Nokia isn't bothered to fix).

What I use at the moment is an old blackberry which I hate with a passion but does work. I've tried to get my iPhone to do it but it appears iOS doesn't allow it because of background apps restrictions.

Last andriod phone I bought (nexus 5) lasted about two weeks before I went back to my iPhone but if it was just for calls and received SMS I could possibly put up with it if it had a decent battery.

All I need is the ringing, Bluetooth and on the EE network although I'd prefer cheap, decent battery life, small and sim free.

Oh and loud, very loud.

Cheers guys.

Could always set a really long ringleader for the text alert?

I've tried that on the iPhone, Apple seems to limit the time of the text.

Might be worth trying on the old Motorola I've got lying about. Thanks.

There's seems to be apps available for andriod and iOS but if you read the iOS reviews they seem to suggest apples restrictions on background tasks stop them being useful. Plus I'm not too keen on charging two phones a night.

could you not tell your work to provide the correct tool for the job?

Remember some older basic phones used to flash continuously until the SMS was read. They may have bleeped as well. Going back  along time for that though.

That's a whole different kettle of fish ;)

On iPhone - it is possible to get it to give up to 10 reminders for a Text Message - at 2 minute intervals.

That gives a 20 minute (actually 22 mins, I think!) span of reminders.

That any good?

Go into Settings > Notifications > Scroll down to Messages > Repeat Alerts > 10 Times

Samsung has it, or with any android phone just install handcent and set how often and how many alerts you want. You can have it ring (vibrate too) indefinitely if you want.

Ah, how did I miss that?  10 times should be plenty, especially as on my personal phone I have a barking fox as my ring tone, I'll need to think about it but the best option might just be to use my personal phone.

That's maybe an option as well.  Will need to take a look at a non-andriod one and see.  I've never got on with andriod despite trying multiple times (some of the andriod phones are lovely) plus I can do without having to charge 2 phones every night ;).

Cheers guys.  That's been really helpful.
