3.5 stars for the new Kia Sportage in Autocar

Featured Replies

This Subaru Tribica clone (from the front mostly) has grown on me I have to say. Quite neat. But it gets a measly 3,5 stars out of five and STILL sits lower in the pack than the SEVEN year old Yeti. :) Seems they tried to copy Audi's brittle hard ride and failed miserably.

But read this on the drivetrain. Very interesting how it is RWD biased:

Sips the fuel as a result. Which is peculiar in this day and age.

A puny 1.7 litre engine  and the usual 12/13 second 0-60 ,and mediocre in gear performance.

Where's the performance?

Citroen cactus gets 5* and car of the year on car buyer so I suppose we will all be buying one of these?

Oink Oink Flutter Flutter!!

Kia ruin all their cars with the 1.7. My optima is poor in terms of performance...oh and it's been at the dealer for 4 weeks now due to it eating it's gearbox.

New engines are on the way...I've got a Sorrento 2.2 diesel at the mo and it's nippy and ticks all the boxes. A few design flaws inside but overall it's a great bit of kit.

I think I'm swapping into a sportage this week but not sure if it's a new one or the previous model as they need the Sorrento back haha.I have put 2.5k miles on it for them and I got it with 430...
