Pd150 hybrid Turbo advice

Featured Replies

Managed to get my hands on a Pd150 hybrid for mk1 vrs. I'm not particularly interested in going over 200bhp with it and know I'll need a front mount.

Do I need to alter/get anything new in order to incorporate turbo safe and sound? There are other topics in search but not one that covers what I'd need - pipes etc.

Any help would be lovely :)

Boost pipes oil feed and oil return should all be fine as they are. I think you may need to blank the egr off, possibly anyway. Not sure about bracket/mount however.

Obviously a remap to suit the new turbo. And ideally bigger brakes to stop the thing!

Oil return will work but it's easier if you buy a flexible one. Turbo mount fits fine. You'll need egr blanking plates. Complete set of gaskets and maybe exhaust nuts and studs just to be safe.

Think that's all I needed when I did mine. If it's for a fabia then the compressor housing should already be clocked.

You doing it yourself?

The egr pipe bolted straight onto mine and then I got it mapped out :) that was on a ASZ engine, could have blanked it but I was in a rush to get my car back on the road

If yours is a BLT version I would advise doing the EGR cooler delete as well, it frees up a lot of space down the back of the engine.

Be prepared for a bit of a faff if you intend to reuse the original oil feed pipe, its a rigid pipe that's easy to damage on removal, the easiest option is to replace the whole pipe with a tailored braided flexi pipe from the likes of darkside.

The turbo support bracket fits in the same place as the 130 turbo, exhaust flange is the same - factor into it a new gasket between the turbo and downpipe although many re-use the original one.

The oil return is the same on the 150 and 130, again theres a couple of small gaskets on each end from memory. IMO easier and safer to use the original return as its a sturdy design.

Might be a good opportunity to get the inlet manifold cleaned out, the EGR/ASV cleaned and factor in new gaskets for all of those as well.

Don't forget if you are planning on deleting the EGR, it'll need mapping out to keep the EML light off.

No I'm looking at getting a friendly mechanic to help out. I'd love to work on it myself but just don't have the knowledge or skills!

This is my last reply to my own post... :)

Anyone know of a specialist that could do all of the above without me worrying they've missed something? I'm wary of fitting it and then having issues...

The flexi oil pipes can be had from Darkside Developments, they get good reviews at least to justify the costs.

If your car is an 06 I think it may be on the border of the changeover from ASZ to BLT engine codes, the only difference necessary to mention being the egr cooler.

I'm sure someone else will have a method of differentiating between the two. I seem to think if your engine cover is completely black then it's a BLT? As well as differences in the egr valve and the battery cover/housing? Don't take me word on that though!
