2.0tdi 150bhp SCR AdBlue warning.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up as after just 700 miles the SCR (AdBlue) system has failed in my 2016 Yeti. Ive since done some digging around to discover that very similar issues have been a problem in VW's and Audis for a while, now these systems are coming into Skoda vehicles it looks like we are getting the same issues.

The car is currently back at Mitchell Skoda in Chester who have been great and very apologetic. They openly admitted that they were stumped as the system is new to their technicians so are waiting for a response from Skoda UK.

Ill let you know the outcome and what to watch out for if you also have the SCR system fitted.

You have invalidated the warranty on the Engine and systems with having the remap done have you not.

I take it Skoda / VW will be investigating the ECU, so have they asked you to sign any declaration on Non Factory Engine Management modifications?

The dealership are fully aware of the map, the SCR is not connected to the engine in anyway and has its own management system.

They also kindly fit the VW Racing filter for me as i didn't have the correct torque bit.

But hay, thanks for stating the obvious, really ads the the topic of this thread  :notme:  :wall:

Your Manufacturers Warranty is with the Manufacturer not the dealership.

Good luck with that.

Plus if it was an engine issue......

MoreBHP Warranty

This Warranty applies only in the event and to the extent that the Manufacturer’s Warranty does not respond. The MoreBHP Warranty applies (subject to the Terms & Conditions, which are available on request) to damage directly caused to the relevant Motor Vehicle arising directly from Mechanical or Electrical Breakdown as summarised below by reason of failure of the MoreBHP product fitted by a MoreBHP Installer during the period of this Warranty.

So don't need any luck

Lovely stuff.  Good luck anyway, needed or not.

Looks like VAG products are becoming very unreliable, just one problem after another. Best switch to another manufacturer methinks, Merc or BMW. Any problems with them does anyone know?.

A nice bit of good news from Skoda this morning, they have done a full power down reset on the car which appears to have solved the SCR problem, warning lights are off and its reading 4000miles again on the AdBlue range.

Skoda UK are just checking the error codes sent to them by Mitchell Skoda to make doubly sure I'm not going to have a repeat of the issue but i should have the car back by Monday :)

good news    try to find out exactly what's what-----best of luck with that ;)

Well I've got the Yeti back, they performed a complete power down system reboot, read a load of data off the car and sent it to Skoda then did a software update just to be sure.

All seems well, interestingly the remap (which the dealership are aware of) wasn't mentioned or picked up on by Skoda Uk.

Just as well the Dealership never asked you to sign a Warranty Claim with a declaration that the vehicles has no Non Factory Approved Engine Management changes.

If they have not done so then fine, but be aware that Skoda / VW might comeback and ask that later as is their right with the Manufacturers Warranty.

As it wasn't an engine management issue i cant see why they would, but thanks for the heads up. Ive remapped all my cars and never had a warranty claim associated with mapping or associated parts.

Plenty have had to foot the bill them selves after VW have investigated ECUs, and plenty have had Warranty Claims declined after buying Used cars, even Skoda, VW, Seat, Audi Approved Used cars as checks showed the vehicles had been re-mapped.

But then Main Dealers do not put cars back to Factory Setting or check for Remaps before selling cars by putting the latest VW Software on,

so the VWG are a bit stuffed often and owners have returned cars because they were bought on finance and then proved to be unable to be covered by the Approved Used Warranty, or if they purchased an Extended Warranty.

Often when they check they ask details of the Owner / Keepers Insurance to see if it has Declared Modifications,

then if it has they offer that the person that gained by Warranty Work they were not entitled to, they pay the costs.

But as you say, there is no connection between the SRC issue and the remap.
