Mesh Stone Guards, Yeti Outdoors (Protecting AC Condenser)

Featured Replies

I had a stone wreck my AC condenser, it cost me £500!

I have made a couple of mesh stone guard "things" but

was wondering if there are any pukka detachable (for cleaning)

front grill guards out there for the Outdoor.

I was only thinking about this yesterday (I have been meaning to do it for the last couple of years!)

Ideally i’m after black plastic / HDPE mesh... any recommendations for a supplier?

I made one about 3 years ago. I did a write up in the technical guides.

On my iPad at the moment so a link is more difficult

I was thinking about this HDPE mesh to make my own.

If 3 are ordered it will come as 1000mm x 160mm

The top grill is approx 18cm deep though

There is a mesh guard that is from a VW Golf that is supposed to fit inside the bumper on the front of the condenser.

I've got one in my garage awaiting fitting when I pull the bumper off. There are a few threads on here about it.

I'm doing the most vulnerable one first, the bottom and that is about 750mm x 150mm.

There is about 400% more visible there and in a much more vulnerable position.

The supplier in my link above does all different sizes.

The stone hole in mine appeared about halfway up the top condenser,

so both grills need guarding. Also they need to be easily removable for

cleaning off flys and other detritus.

I adapted one I made for the pre-facelift Yeti I had and made one from

the scrap of mesh left over.

*anyone know how to blur the numberplate?

What do you mean by the top condenser?
I would fit it to the inside of the grills.
Had one on my Fabia and cleaned flies etc off with a pressure washer with no problem.

I seem to remember it looked like two mini rads. one on top of the other.

I think it would certainly look better with the mesh on the "inside"

I could also hold it in position with screw/ hooks rather than zip ties.

If your condenser was holed by a stone halfway up the stone would have entered the bottom grill.

Sorry, I did say half way up the top condenser

Sorry, I did say half way up the top condenser

The top of the condenser only pokes into the top aperture by about an inch.

Ah, looks like the F/L model cond/rads are a lot lower.
