 Impressive.

Journey length? Speed?

5 miles, engine was already warmed up. 30-55mph for the whole trip, I guess you'd say "extra urban".

Car has also within the last 10,000 miles had crank sensor, cam sensor, timing chain, thermostat and temp sensor, plugs and oil, so is purring like a kitten.

Nice. Last year I drove 110 miles on the motorway and the fuel gauge needle was still on full when I got to my destination.

Cool.

But it's quite hilly round your way, isn't it?

Sure that 5 miles wasn't all downhill?  :p

I'd say more down than up to be fair :)

Your honesty wins you free beer at my local any time you're passing.

I did 4,9L/100 (58mpg) in a 20km trip last week.

My last year consuption was 34MPG :S

Mine is a 2008 BXW code 1.4 16V 85HP

I reckon having 16 valves is cheating :)

It gets better and better along with the engine getting upto running temp. By doing the conversion, I'm doing an average of 41mpg (urban or extra, it is the same for this engine) and I can do about 200miles with 1/2 tank(maybe a bit less, the needle is showing more than it should be). The distance traveled since I filled the tank until now is 213miles. I can say that for an mpi, getting about 400miles with a full tank is pretty much decent(especially during cold seasons and while doing short trips).

A few days old pic, proving myself that driving it at high rpm doesn't mean a lower mpg. In this case, I was doing 30(speed limit in town), 2nd gear, on plain road and getting an instant 42mpg, which is about my average. I keep this way my sparkplugs, O2 probes, catalyst, exhaust clean, nice and shine.

260km since I've refilled the tank (driving on the motorway with A/C on, one passenger and light load in the boot)

^ How come your MPIs have the trip computer thingy? Mine doesn't

Well, your MPI has ABS brakes ... mine doesn't.

True :D

Major miracle..monday morning, 8am, huge traffic jam. I did 4miles in 30 minutes. I got plenty of time to finish my coffee.

Still on the same petrol tank as before. 400 miles since it has been filled.
