Another insurance question....sorry

Featured Replies

Hey

Im really confused. How come insurance for a 1.9 TDI Comfort 5dr Fabia is

That is confusing

However, the TDI comfort is likely to be a more common car than the Elegance TDI and so the insurance companies may place it in a higher risk category as there are more of them about on the roads and hence statistics* will show that they are more likely to be involved in an accident or stolen or ....

Basically most insurance companies are thieving barstewards :finger: .

I may be wrong but .......

* Meaningless statistics can show anything if the 'appropriate' samples are taken  e.g. A greater number of Skoda Fabia drivers will exceed the speed limit than Bugatti Veyron drivers ;) (Not withstanding the fact that only 300 Veyrons will ever be made compared to hundreds of thousands of Skoda Fabias)

Is it an earlier model without passenger airbag and ABS. Believe it or not Direct Lines takes this into consideration.

Was with Direct line for 10 years (wish I'd never left - long story) but Direct line's groupings are a law unto themselves. To start with they have 99 groups not 20. But on both occasions when someone hit my car(s) they were 100% spot on.

To give you an example they rate a 1.2 64 bhp Fabia Comfort in the same group as a Fiat Stillo 1.9 Active JTD (The Stillo had a 115bhp engine)

This is two years back - maybe things have changed

Now if they allow Mods - may go back to them in May.

They allow mods (over 21), but you have to declare them and pay.

Personally direct line are O.K as insurance companies go. They do me 0% finance to pay up my insurance every year so I'm nat complaining.
