Warranty Wise - anyone had a claim?

Warranty Wise - anyone had a claim?

I've been getting quotes for extending the warranty on my car. I've got DSG and Haldex so want to cover these for at least another year. I've had the Skoda quote and a Warranty Wise Quote. Warranty Wise have matched Skodas quote and on paper provide a much better comprehensive cover, including wear and tear. However I'm struggling to find a good review about Warranty Wise, all I can find is reviews stating 'they wriggled out of paying'.

Have you any experience of a claim from this company? When you speak to them to take out a policy they are very convincing and really pile it on about how good their cover is, so what the experience here?

I had their cover on my TSI vRS Octavia to cover me if the timing chain failed. All I did before buying their cover was asked them specific questions, so is the timing chain failure covered etc and they answered yes. If it came to claiming I had that email/letter to stop them from getting out of paying.

Any insurance/warranty company will try and wriggle out of paying, it's their nature of business and how they make money. Just cover yourself and you should be fine :)

I don't think I've got the energy to try to get them to put in writing all the parts they will cover. Reading the reviews they wriggle out of just about anything. I expect the warranty companies are all the same.

What do they cover that Skoda don't?

I'd still rather take my chances with Skoda - you just take the car to a dealer and show them a print out of your warranty schedule - with FDSH I think you stand a better fighting chance if they try to wriggle out. Warranty Wise's cover may be more comprehensive but I'm just interested in covering engine or gearbox failure - pretty much everything else I can live with.

Some Warranty Company / Underwriters sell you a Warranty, and you read the T&C's and understand,

when you need to pay for a diagnosis and removal of parts the 'Handler' then might say, 'known issue' Warranty not covering.

When Skoda sell you a Skoda / VW warranty, they know the known issues, it is just they have never publicly admitted to them,

so when you have a Warranty Claim and go to the Main Dealer they can hardly say both,

'they all do that'  while saying 'never heard of that before'. and another will say, 'known issue'.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

Learn from experience, take out a not expensive extended warranty and have the Volkswagen Group that own the Warranty Company pay for their own Fundamental Design, Manufacturing or Quality Control Issues.

*The known issues that they let go on out of Manufacturers Warranty.*

Bang on regarding 'known issues', George. Exactly why I would only buy a warranty from Skoda.

avoid like the plague, any of these aftermarket warranties IMO.

I had to basically almost take wwise to court to get them to pay for my claim, because they stated the fault was there before the policy existed, and came to this conclusion from a couple of photos, refusing to come and inspect the vehicle.

Most garages dont want to work with these sorts of warranty companies as they only want to pay bottom rate for labour and the least amount of parts possible to get the car back on the road, they pick at every item on the invoice, luckily a friend of mine wasnt in a hurry for the money.  You are usually stuck because the claims process takes such an amount of time, you end up fotting the garage bill to get your car back "and then hope that wwise would pay the invoice price for the work later"

Only when I escalated publicly (and calling up to ask to speak to Quinton Wilson  to ask how experienced he was with lateral cambelt movement ) they paid up agreeing to pay the full garage bill.
