Kumho Ecsta Sport KU 31

Featured Replies

Well after two sets of the much loved Pirelli P Zero Neros I've decided to have a change of rubber.

Kumho tyres are much loved on the UK rally scene so I thought I'd give them a go.

Had them fitted this morning and took then for a three hour drive round North Wales and I have to say I'm very impresed with them. Grip is comparable to the Pirellis in the corners and when pulling away with plenty of grip under braking.

Road noise is slightly less than the Pirellis too.

The only downside I can think of, and it's nothing major, is that they don't half kick the stones up - but it will keep the tail gaters away.

So over all in the dry I would say they are as good as P Zero Neros and

I'll look forward to that mate, interested in a set of those myself. Used the K6a's on track and have been very impressed.

I have a set of Kumho Ecsta KH-11s. Good grip in the dry and terrible in the wet. BTW they "let go" after about 15k miles. Hence the reaon I'm after a new set of rubber too!

Must say I'm surprised to see positive reviews for these - I have them in 215/40/17 on 7.5 inch rims, and they're OK in the dry, quite good actually, but in the wet they are the worst tyres I've ever parted with decent money for. In fact, they're worse than the Woosung tyres I got for the old Scimitar, and they cost £90 for 4!!! They have chronic power understeer followed by lift off oversteer, at pretty low speeds, and they're awful at getting the power down in the wet. Perhaps it's a difference in size that affects it... the michelin primacys I had on my old 200SX in 205/55/16 were great, but the 205/45/16s on the skoda were rubbish in the wet. For the people who have given these positive reviews, is that on the standard rims?

Mine are now pretty much half worn at the front and still like new at the back. In the rain they are pretty dismal TBH.

Dry grip is still very good indeed but on a damp road you have to be so careful not to push wide as you understeer all over the place.

Wont be buying these again.
