Auxiliary input issues

Featured Replies

Hi Folk I wonder if anyone can throw some light on an issue I've experienced with the auxiliary input in the jumbo box on my car ...

I either plug in my mobile to play my music or a DAB radio into it rather than the hassle of changing the head unit over and the set up works perfectly the problem I've experienced is that if I plug in a dual USB charger to the cigarette lighter socket to charge either whilst still using my Sat Nav the Auxiliary input simply stops working at all..... this happens with nothing plugged into the USB charger just the unit on its own ...

When I noticed it at first I put it down to a cheap charger, it only cost me a few pound in a local phone accessory shop, but I've since tried several other units costing up to £15 all with the same issue and I'm totally baffled by it or why it should be doing this ...

Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting back to me as I appreciate it .. I may not have explained the situation very clearly though...

My Dab Radio is is played through the Aux input and it works fine ... it works fine with USB adaptor in the power socket as I run my Sat Nav off it for it the speed camera alerts in the area ... it plays fine though only as long as the USB adaptor is a single (the one that came with my TomTom or any other brand) the problem arises when I plug a double USB adaptor in as even with nothing plugged into it as soon as its inserted into the socket the Aux input stops working as I said I initially thought it was a cheap adaptor but the last two have cost around £15 with the same results.

I'm totally at a loss as to why it's doing this or the reason behind as with nothing plugged into the adaptor it's not drawing any power, other than to light the tiny LED light showing there's power there, to trip anything.
