Amundsen Bluetooth Issues (New Owner)

Featured Replies

Yo guys,

I've been searching the forum, but can't seem to find answers to a couple of questions.

BACKGROUD:

I picked up my 2011 1.2 Greenline and love it, but there's a few things to do with the entertainment system that are bugging me...

1.

I've connected my phone (iphone 6) with Bluetooth and can listen to much through it fine, and make calls etc. BUT, I can't skip the track using the arrow buttons, and there's no music info on the 'MEDIA' screen, it just says 'Bluetooth Audio' - Does anyone know how to fix this? being able to at least skip the track is a pretty important thing for me.

2.

My model has the Maxidot display, which is great, when my phone's connected with bluetooth it shows my battery, signal, etc. etc. - When my phone's not connected I can see my mpg, speed, travel time and all those kinds of things... How can I switch between the phone view and the car computer? I've pressed every button I can think of, and so far the only way to go to the car computer is to disconnect my phone, but then I won't have the music I was listening to haha.

3.

Also, I've seen a few photo's on this forum of people finding their software version, and some other info about the system, can anyone help with getting to that part of the settings? - I'm fairly sure I'm running an older software, but want to double check. (ALSO, how do I update if I need to?)

Any help is highly appreciated, and I love the car apart from these 3 tiny gripes haha I can provide photos of stuff if that's any help :)

Happy Easter!

Software version, press and hold the "Setup" button for about 7 seconds and it'll shift into the second menu, scroll down to "Versions".

Bleutooth stuff, no idea, sorry.

Edit: Updating the unit isn't possible outside the dealer networks as far as I've found. Some people state it can be done, but I've not found a way (not that I've looked particularly hard though).

Wow, thanks man, super fast, will get on it to check.. Any one else have some bluetooth info for me?

You should be able to skip with the arrow buttons. I think display might depend on phone model. My old Samsung just showed 'Bluetooth audio' like yours, but my new Sony shows display like a CD, with artist and song title. It is only now missing track time and time remaining.

To switch between displays on the maxidot you need to hold the down button on the end of the stalk for a couple of seconds and then it will bring up the main menu to switch between phone, music, mfd, servicing etc. If you have the music display on you might be able to use that to skip Bluetooth tracks, can't remember for sure

That's great will give it a try.

Definitely can't skip tracks with the buttons though, it's a little frustrating having to do it on my phone all the time haha

I've got an iPhone 6 and I can skip tracks using the arrows and by using the buttons on the end of the wiper stalk.

Have you tried resetting the unit? Switching it off or even disconnecting the battery?

Try using the buttons to search for a radio station to make sure they actually work.

Is there a USB input on the car I can't remember. If so try plugging the phone in that way and playing the music. Still connected via Bluetooth for calls but USB for sound.

I found with my Samsung that I needed to have the media player on the phone open before it would show the track info etc on the screen in the car.

Thanks guys, will try these tips out and see what happens. No USB on my model unfortunately. - I did a factory reset this morning, which achieved nothing (it even kept my home address) So maybe I'll try that again later today.

Sorry for double post - I just did a full reset and I'm getting the same results.

The arrows do scan the radio (both left and right) so I know they work, but just not for bluetooth, which is a shame.

I did check in the system though that the SOFTWARE VERSION: 0351 and HARDWARE VERSION: H18 - if that means anything to anyone?

On the Maxidot, when I go to the audio section, it just says Bluetooth audio, to the buttons on the wiper stick didn't do anything either.

I'm not bothered about the track names so much, but just want to be able to skip a song if need be haha

Thats strange that the skip doesnt work through the maxidot either. Have no idea why that would be i'm afraid.

Don't suppose you have an MDI socket to plug in via that?

Have you got music open on the phone and playing through a playlist?

If I've been watching a video on YouTube through the phone for instance and want to then play music through the car I have to manually open music and play then I can skip tracks using the buttons otherwise the screen just stays on "Bluetooth audio"

Music app is open, and ready to go before I even start the engine, but still unable to skip the track, no MDI socket either (unless I'm looking in the wrong places - I"ve looked in the glovebox(es) andunder the headunit)

Out of interest, what IOS version are you on? Maybe that has something to do with it?

Yeah you probably dont have MDI then. Mine is just below the lower glovebox next to a little cubby hole. Would be quite obvious if you had it.

I've just updated to 9:3 and still works fine, seems very odd how you can't skip with the buttons

Ah ok - I'm still on 9.0 (for jailbreak reasons) but maybe that's my problem? Will try and find someone on 9.3 and link their phone up and see if that helps anything.

Interestingly I put in 3 or 4 CDs yesterday and none of them had song titles come up on the display, only track 1,2,3 etc. (but I could skip tracks) - thought that was odd, however maybe those CDs simply didn't have the data on them. I'll keep trying a few fixes today and if I can fix it I'll post it here incase anyone else comes across similar issues.

I'm also expecting a call from the dealer about a spare numberplate, for a trailer, so when that comes in I'll go and talk to them about updating/rewiring some things

So the buttons clearly work, seems it's down to the phone?

As you said try and find someone with an updated iPhone and try again then that may pinpoint yours being jail broken but I don't understand how that would affect the music side of things.

What music app are you using, iTunes or something different? Maybe try a different app and see if that is the problem. Did you buy from a dealer? If you did, go back and see if you can pair your phone with a similar unit in the dealership.

All good ideas, I generally use Spotify, but have tried the Apple Music App, but with the same result. For now, I've set up the phone so that the volume up and down buttons work as a skip track, but only while connected to the car, so it's a nice temporary solution, but still not quite perfect haha!

The only thing I've not tried is disconnecting the battery in the car to fully reset, but having done factory resets a number of times, I can't really see any point? Is that right thinking or is it worth giving it ago?

Like I said, I'll need to go back to the dealer next week anyway for a new numberplate, so I'll try pairing it to a similar unit then to see what's going on. Thanks for all your help guys, will keep you posted.

My ghetto fix:

+ is next track

- is previous track

How is that all connected up? Is that via the aux2 at the back?

Nah, the cable just goes under the facia and through to where i put my phone. I then just plug it in the headphone socket and use a jailbreak tweak to change the volume button functions when the phone is bluetoothed up to the car...

Ideally, I could just leave the phone in my pocket and control it all with the system (thats what I thought would happen) but since the issues above, the phone needs to come out the pocket anyway so this is the next best thing I guess... might as well just have a  wired connection though haha!

  • 5 years later...

Try this if you can't skip tracks nor see track names

On Android the fix is easy. Can't tell if it can be done on Iphone
