HI all

i think this is going be a derrr moment but i need to check.

the SE has these 2 options -

Removable box in luggage
compartment

Net programme in luggage
compartment

firstly - is the luggage compartment the boot?

secondly - net program, is this a section of nets for me to use or is it just the hooks to put the nets on?

lastly - if i have the towbar with the raised floor it comes with, would they not put the box in?

cheers for your help

Phil

Yes.

Yes.

and Yes (I'm pretty sure.) The box doesn't fit with the raised boot floor/spare wheel.

cheers dude

Just a query, I didn't think that the raised boot floor comes with towbar fitting but with the fitted spare wheel?

  • Author

it doesnt - but when you order factory tow bar they put a false floor in - the detachable towbar has its own compartment

I take it the "removable box" in the boot is as here on the right.

But if you now order the factory fitted tow bar you have to order the spare wheel. I've tried several different ways to get around it and can't find one.

Which doesn't fit if you have the raised floor or the spare wheel.

Don't know what happened there!!

That's it, bend and insert tabs in the side wall but not if you have a spare wheel under the floor.

The only use I've found for that is to put under a driven wheel to get out of snow/mud etc !

Or it can be used to jam between water pipe and garage wall to stop pipe vibrating when running water.

Our car (delivered 2 weeks ago) has the FF towbar and we optioned the raised boot floor. We didn't have to have a spare wheel, and looking at the underfloor stuff I can't see why you would need the raised boot floor either. The configurator certainly didn't insist.

Yeah we did the same. Had to change the raised floor option for the Monte Carlo steering wheel. Was a good choice all round

I went with a FF towbar and did not have to order the spare wheel, towbar fits alongside the tyre pump, when not fitted.

Very strange, because when I use the "configulator" on the web site to build an Outdoor and choose the factory fit towbar it brings up the spare wheel as "required".

I'll have to try again.

This is from the latest brochure, the configurator is not working at the moment.

""Towbar, removable and lockable Provides a single electrics solution.

Only available in combination with temporary space-saver spare wheel on L&K.

Includes raised boot floor.  £465.00""

Which is why I find it odd, since I am speccing an SE.

Probably going down to the dealers this week so shall see what they say. I was hoping to just swap mine over. If not I'll stick the kit on here.

the box, with a spare wheel/raised floor, why not just carefully cut some more slots in vertcal alignment with those already present, maybe drill the panel and stanley knife the slots? -- i had thought about this some time ago, however with my dog, a rough collie, it would reduce the space available to him!

Why bother? I just threw mine into the dark depths of the garage! It's just a piece of tat!

The hooks on the other hand are much more useful.

I found "the box" very useful for holding the small amounts of shopping we do in the car, then I fitted a spare wheel.

I've got some of that non-slip drawer lining material and a foldable box that is much better. I have a couple of pieces of the non-slip material in the boots of all our cars which is great for stopping things/luggage moving around, even when stacked on top of each other. How did we use to manage!

Trouble with the Skoda part is that it's fiddly to get into the slots and can easily spring out. Not the best of designs.

'Simply Clever'.

The moulded plastic piece costs a few cents, like the Scrapper (Scratcher) in the Filler Flap. (that ices up when you want it to open.)

So the Motoring and other journalists are tickled pink, as are some car buyers.

It distracts from any other failings and annoying features the Reviewers / Road testers  / Journalists should concentrate on writing about,

and showing pictures of.

My dealer told me they frequently get frustrated when customers come in with specifications printed from the configurator as they are often wrong and the only guaranteed specifications are those obtainable via the Skoda ordering system. Allegedly!

I don't have the sliding hooks on the side in my boot can they be retro fitted
