Car covers

Featured Replies

Having had my cars in a garage for over fifty years we are moving to a place that does not have one, so if I was to buy a good one that does not harm the paint etc what is your opinion of them?.

If a waterproof type, it will be recommended to air it (ie remove) regularly. They are not designed for long term use outside. It will not tell you this until you read the product details printed inside packaging. In my experience, anyway.

Occasional use will be ok.

For long term / leaving on solution, in the past I have used an old king size duvet cover, opened up and strapped down with flat string / shoelace.

It keeps the bird crap and general muck off, and although it does not keep the car dry, it allows it to air all of the time and dries out very quickly when the rain stops. The car is then pretty easy to clean when you come to unveil it again.

There is however, always the chance of a little 'rub' type of damage (like over polishing) from the string when blowing in the wind.
