Broken Rear Spring VRS

Featured Replies

Guys

My two rear springs have broken, bumpstop bushes have perished - could somebody advise where I can purchase new springs + bumpstops. I might as well change the dampers as well. I have look for these parts and its a mine field - as the majority of springs are for lowering the car or its coilover kits. I want to fit better damapers than the OEM but keep the car at the same ride height.

I have coilovers on my Triumph Dolomite Sprint :sun: as there was limited dampers availableSpax, Gaz or Armstrong - Coilover kits are ok if the car going on a track but mine just a normal road car.

Help please point me in the right direction.

Can recommend b6 dampers if you are after upgraded damper but not wish to lower. Best prices are from German eBay due to favourable exchange rates.

For springs try kilen springs from eBay you will need the part number from the kilen website.

As for bump stops probably best get the part number from your old bump stop as there seem to both oval and round ones.

many thanks for the offer, I would like to purchase new suspension parts. I wouldn't mind if the car had travelled alot (excessive mileage) as its on a 56 plate with 24K miles on the clock. I bought it when it was 18 months old with 13K on the clock my average mile is between 1K and 2K per year. The only think that would have caused the problem is the amount of pot holes / an age related issue, I try to miss the holes but you cannot dodge all of them.

I surpose I could fit coilover and set them at the OEM ride height any recommendation.

I purchased some Pro sport shocks and springs from Darran @ DPM Performance very please with them, fitted the rear ones -big difference between the overall lenght of the standard spring against the pro sport spring 3-4 " difference when not under load. I have set the height adjuster to give me a 1 1/4" between the locknut and the and body. Can anybody give me a approx. size to set the fronts too - bottom of the shock to the underside of the first locknut.

KYB and Lesjofor do OEM spec springs.

Stay away from KYB dampers.  I haven't come across a japanese damper yet that has the same valving sophistication as a European based damper.
