Reset the password in the SmartGate

Featured Replies

The default password is the VIN of the car so joined. They asked to change your password. I changed my password and I can not connect. New password does not work and does not work by default. To change or reset the password?

You don't have to take it to the dealer to reset it.. just disconnect it and reconnect it.. It's located under the passanger seat (UK) or probably drivers seat if you have left hand drive car...  if you put the seat as far back as possible you wil see it..

Just like I said.. glad you found it.. just don't use special characters like !,;+_ in your password - as that is the reason you cannot get access to it.  I know that sounds crazy given the world of insecure passwords, but that's Skoda's poor design for Smartgate.  I would reduce the range of transmission to the lowest setting  when you configure it, so it doesn't transmit beyond the car.. there are websites saying that it can be hacked easily, so beware!

I have the same problem on my 2015 Octavia 1,8 TSI 4x4.

Can't remember that i have changed password, but still it doesn't let me connect to SmartGate with my cars VIN-number (default).

I have been searching under my seats with no luck. Does someone know other locations of the Smartgate box?
