Quite p1st off...

Featured Replies

Slept early yesterday so I woke up happy. Driving to work, go through the underpass, then I have a choice of either going straight to the junction, or turning right. I turn right to go to work, so I'm on the correct lane. Out of the blue, this m0ther f|_|ckin' dickwad driving a damn bank security van comes out of nowhere from the line at the junction to go right! He din't even look in his sidewiew or shoulder check to see if anyone was coming, and I was only a few meters away! So I tug right and slam on the brakes....I missed running into his side, and in return kerbed my front alloy wheel! It ain't damaged, the rim part is grazed ugly...noticeable up close, not so from far, but the point is it could have been avoided.

Knowing the police here, I was hesitant to call them, because a security van was involved. I got so pist off I just started shouting at the retard and told him it's drivers like him who shouldn't be on the road! Called an auto-specialist, they do wheel-refurbishments for about AED350, which is pretty good. Will be taking it to get it cleaned up when I find the time.

I woke up happy, and now I'm pist. Today is not going to be a good day.

That's a shame, and one of those annoying things that happen every day to someone. At least you weren't hurt or the car properly damaged.

Can you remember the company logo on the van? Would at least be worth writing a very shirty letter to the company, you never know.....

I know the name of the van...the next time I see one on the road, I'll take down mailing details and write them a letter of complaint...

Thanks.

From my experience of living in the Emirates, this seems pretty standard driving behaviour. I mean, what were you thinking, driving in the correct lane and all? OK, it's been a couple of years that I moved back to Europe, but surely they haven't started enforcing good lane behaviour have they? Whatever next. ;)

Sorry to hear that Mil

At least it wasn't the car that got mullered

Sorry to hear that Mil, I had a similar incident, maybe worthwhile getting tracking checked, mine was out when checked after my front got kerbed.

Stupid drivers, who think they own the road are a PITA, they cause people to swerve and always get off scot free, where the people who have to try to avoid them usually end up with some sort of damage, sorry to hear about your scuffing, luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been, these people should be banned fromt he roads & made to use public transport as a punishment :)

Thankfully the tracking is fine. Steering wheel is straight, and when I let the wheel go driving, it doesn't drift, just like it was when I got my tyres recently changed and wheels aligned.

Unless you take chunks out the wheels like I've never ever done of course ;) then there's little point in tracking checks as it's unlikely to affect it.

The grazes left on the alloy edges are more of a pain. I've got to the point where another graze from a slightly inaccurate parallel park is not annoying me at all. :o

It will do once I get them refurbed though.

I thought there were no roads in the desert?
