Signs of imminent MAF failure?

Featured Replies

My Octavia has started hunting by about 200rpm either side of the idle point. No fault codes have been logged - early MAF failure warning?

EDIT: I've checked all the hoses etc.

i'm having something simular on my vRS at the moment but the engine light has now come on so i'm hoping something has been recorded that the dealer can work with.

i'll let you know what happens.

could be, coudl just the MAF is dirty or the filter is dirty

Could be a dirty filter to be honest.

well the engine light went out last night but i'm still booked in at the dealers cause i want it sorting... even if its a result of me running the induction kit and it dirtying the MAF... at least i'll know.

Does anyone know if you can buy the security torx bit / screwdriver that will fit the screw on the MAF ?

i've got a decent selection of torx drivers inc secuirty bits but non of them fit.

Can you post a pic of the head? I bought a set of security bits from Screwfix which seem to fit most things I've tried to tamper with :D

I think you can unplug it ;)

Think of it as a component failure, what would the ecu do...better than false readings and driving to the sound of 4 rods a poppin..

I've cleaned MAFs on other cars with electrical component cleaner spray with no problems.
