Not sure if this is a eureka moment or not but the 'buttons' above and below both the volume control and the scroll control are actually active...

 

Can skip tracks/stations etc.

 

Is this widely known or have I just had my head under a stone...?

Designed this way.

There is however a duplication of action between the 2 buttons on either side of the wheel though..

user manual page 46.

there aren't extra buttons, have made several times mistake in the dark
