Rear brakes squealing

Featured Replies

Has anyone had trouble with rear brakes making a bad sqealing noise when reversing slowly? My vRS Octy has been in twice to be looked at & they say there is nothing wrong. Is this a common thing, or are Barkers of Grimsby just rubbish?

I currently have that problem with my Fabia. Just had the discs changed as well as per their recommendation!

Not only that, once you press the brakes it HOWLS...like a big-a$$ owl....

I will be getting it thoroughly checked by them once my car goes in for service 2500kms from now.

Mine are too, just don't care too much. The wife hates it and I may mention it when it's due it's first service.

Yep, my o5 plate Vrs Squeals like a stuck pig. Skoda told me only last week there is an inherant problem with the brakes, they can fit some thing to the brakes to reduce it, and it does a bit. My brakes squeal if the car has been sitting for a few days and a bit if i reverse. After a few miles it goes.

Ask your dealer about this if you have any more problems give me a shout and i will get the low down from my dealer.hope this helps:thumbup:

Yip Mine Does It Too

I Drag The Handbrake A Little It While Reversing Slowly It Goes Away

Not To Bothered Yet, Will Do If Gets Worse Thou

Would I be right in thinking that this is due to the pads sitting on the disc, unlike a shoe would?

This was a recall on the fabia vRS. Shimes have been fitted on my to hold the pad away form the disc, Skoda know about this and so should the dealers. It's the pads viabrating on the disc.

So THAT's what it is.

I'll tell the dealer this and have him sort it out ASAP. And like Jonathan says, it does sound like a stuck pig! Big one too!
