Newbie hoping to unlock his car

Featured Replies

Morning all. I'm excited about owning a 51 plate Octavia with the awesome 1.9 naturally aspirated diesel. My car is now possessed and locks and unlocks itself at will. Sometimes even when I want to get in and drive it! Other times it remains locked even when I've tried multiple times to unlock it (only the passenger door lock occasionally works now) owning this car is fun, you never know whether or not it will let you drive it on any given day. Luckily the drivers window mech is knackered so I'm hoping to be able to force the window down to gain entry. Looking forward to sharing experiences when other owners!

Evening NTIOO  :hi:

I'd have it scanned for fault codes if I were you, to see what gets thrown up.

I had a 1999 B5 Passat that had similar symptoms and it turned out to be dry solder joints in the drivers side door lock control module.  One door lock later and I never had the problem again.

Could be lots of things though, so a scan might help identify what's up.

Glad you're enjoying the excitement though!

Ello and good luck :)
