De Cat

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a pretty much standard VRS at the moment and it is due to be stage 1 mapped at the end of the month, I was thinking of getting the cat taken out before it gets mapped

will it pass an MOT without a cat? or should I alternatively gut my cat so it looks like it's still there?

Any advice let me know

thanks

Yeah you need a CAT for MOT,but it can just be a empty shell as it's just a visible test.

Not really worth the hassle trying to knock it out though,as performance gains are negligible.

And due to where the CAT is you can't get to both ends to knock the insides out,you would need to cut it open and re - weld to do it tidy.

There is only a very small gain to be had - I do have a stock downpipe in my shed if you fancy cutting it up to gut out and re-weld. PM me if interested.
