Which roof bars for estate?

Featured Replies

I have always had the 'wing bar' type roof bars on my previous volvos; the ones that sit low between the roof rails rather than on top. I see Thule do some for the Superb estate, does anyone have them, or any pics of them fitted? In stock photos they don't look as good as the volvo ones and just trying to justify the extra cost. Thanks.

They are called thule edge which sit at the same height as the rails.

Whisper also do some which sit flat.

There's a good thread in this on them .

I have spent loads of time reading up on them recently, however I'm just going to go for the cheapest option as I will only use them 3/4 times a year max for my roof box and I won't leave them fitted.

(i have a to towbar bike rack for my bikes)

Perfect thank you. I use mine for a roofbox (also have a towbar bike rack - although need to order the towbar still aswell!) but I prefer to leave the bars on so can throw the roofbox on at short notice for spontaneous weekend trips. Think I will probably go for the wingbar type.
