Octavia vrs cr170 oil level rising

Featured Replies

Oil level keeps rising and I am having do an oil change a lot more frequent due to this. Anyone any ideas pretty sure it's dpf related but ad ask on here. Thanks in advance

id say it was diesel in the sump.

obviously the oil level should never rise and if it does it means something has contaminated it,usually diesel or coolant.

you will smell the diesel when you drop the oil

Just wondering if anyone knows what the problem is

I bet the tandem pump has failed. What year is your car?

EDIT: just read the thread title, I don't think the CR has a tandem pump

could be leaking fuel injectors or when the dpf regens some fuel is sometimes deposited in sump

Are you doing lots of short journeys?

Yeh had a rough idea it was dpf related. What does it actually do?

To help regenerate the DPF, extra diesel is injected post combustion which then burns in the DPF to get it hotter.

With the extra fuel being in the cylinders a small amount makes its way past the rings and into the oil. If you never take your car for a good run then the DPF will constantly be trying to get the DPF temperature up by doing this which means you will get quite a bit of diesel in the oil which isn't doing your engine any good.

Sell it and buy a push bike  :D

Haha. Thanks for tht mate I shall be doing an oil change mid week. When I say the level has risen I mean a very small amount.

Take your car for a blast every now and then mate. Helps the car to build up it's efficiency as well as letting the DPF get up to temperature, as said.

Nothing worse than DPF issues where the car will try to do regens or you need to do a forced regen. That is when you will have some issues. Just search the DPF related threads. Take her for a run and boot it son!

Have changed oil and been walking more often and it's still doin it. Car runs great so really don't know what it could be?

Leaking injector/s?

Leaking injector/s?

If it is fuel in the sump then I think it can only be the injectors that are passing or not atomising the fuel correctly

With a PD engine you can blame the tandem pump, or the seals around the injectors or even a crack in the head where the fuel rail is. But with common rail the only part which could deliver extra fuel is through the injectors as far as I know. Unless its water getting into the oil or DPF has not been mapped out correctly

Just take it for a blast down a motorway once a week. As for driving to work when it's less than a mile, shame on you

But joking aside, the way you're using the car is the quickest way to kill it. The engine and oil won't even get half-way to temperature by the time you finish the journey. You need a 1l n/a petrol engine.
