About to take the plunge....

Featured Replies

Hi, newly signed up member here. I'm about to order a new Superb company car, well I am at the minute... I keep changing my mind and get tempted by the alternatives... And the other half is being a bit of a badge snob which doesn't help (didn't even know she had it in her!!).

Anyway, I'm 99% sure it's gonna be a Superb...for now

Which other badge/model are you considering?

I got my 190 diesel superb hatch today. I used to be a big audi fan. This car blows me away. I test drove Passat, CC, A6, bmw 520d and this is just...superior. Depends what type of driving you do, of course, but I am a huge motorway cruiser and there could be no better fit imo. I love it. If it had another badge on it, this car would be worth at least 40k

Similar to you - on my company car list are the A6, 5 series, E Class etc. I'm currently driving the E Class which I have been really happy with for the last 4 years...and the missus is wanting to go with another of the same... but I cant get the car I want with any of these as there's always a compromise between the spec/tech and the engine against the tax I'll have to pay every month for the privilege!

With the Superb I get the right engine, model and all the options I want without killing myself with the tax bill - plus the interior has more space for the 3 kids in the back (although they're not badly done to in the E Class to be fair).

Driving-wise its a mix for me - some long distance motorway, some town, some windy twisty roads

Welcome!  Good luck with your decision.  I presume its the new E-Class you're looking at?  A beautiful car of course and loaded with the latest tech but could always through up the usual teething problems being a brand new model.  Is there much in it from a tax point of view between the Superb and the Merc?  The A6 and 5 series are effectively run-out models at this stage - assuming you're planning to take delivery in the coming months?

I need an estate and the E class estate isnt on the immediate horizon so it's the current version. They've pimped it up a bit with fancy stereo and pano roof etc. and I wouldn't really be bothered that it was going to be upgraded in no time at all if I could convince myself that it was a bargain...but next to the Superb it doesnt look like a bargain at all....

Tax-wise, if I spec the E Class up with the options I "need" then it's at least £100 per month more than the 190 L&K Superb estate with not only the things I need but quite a few more things that I want

I've made my mind up - its a 190 DSG L&K Superb Estate with Pano roof, crew protection, smart light assist, travel assist, rear backrest release, DSG paddle steering wheel, net partition and, most important of all with 3 kids, waste bin in side door!!! In black with black leather interior........ and I'll spend the £100 a month on cake and fine wine
