Hi all.

I have been getting a few ideas from the outside so thought it best to say hallo!

 

I have just sold my Mk1 Fabia Estate 1.9 tdi Elegance. I had it 9 years and it was just a brilliant car. I am awaiting delivery of a new Mk3 1.2 DSG Estate.

 

I have been trying to justify to myself the new motor as there was nothing at all wrong with my old one!

Maybe the thought that if I had a new motor now and keep it for another 9 years I will be  of an age that sounds old to me - Gulp!... So why not me thinks!

 

Another reason is that I have a Honda NC 750x motorcycle that has dual clutch auto transmission and it is simply brilliant. - I used to have a BMW GS 1200. One day I was on a country lane and pulled in for an oncoming car then pulled away again. I thought to myself I've just changed gear 12 times for that simple manoeuvre, there must be a better way, So the BM went and I haven't missed it at all. The Honda has opened up a new, relaxing and enjoyable world of motorcycling. I also have a Mazda MX5 which helps keep me sane even though I know it all sounds insane!

 

I also drive modern tractors and combines which are basically automatics. Just the odd levers to nudge to make them go. - Simply Clever!

 

So the seed was set to get an auto motor and it had to be a Fabia Estate. If its half as good as the Mk1 it should be fine.

I have ordered a good few extras which put the price up but I did manage to negotiate just about a 10% reduction on the total price which made me feel a bit less faint!

 

I am also changing from a diesel to petrol. I thought I never would but when I realised how much more the diesel version costs related to the miles I do it made me think. I also listened to the diesel at the dealers and wasn't impressed. (Maybe due to my old one being four cylinders.) If I had added the extras to the diesel model price it would have been even sillier money.

After doing the deal I said to the sales person that I hoped I would not keep stalling the petrol model due to the lower torque... but then realised its DSG!

 

Anyway... Just off to my therapist.
