vrs tsi dsg MPG

Featured Replies

Hi,

What are you guys getting from your dsg tsi vrs?

I'm getting high 20s from a tank of mixed driving. Over a distance with eco set and driving like a granny I tend to get 36 - 38 mpg. I did manage 40 yesterday for about 5 minutes till I had to overtake on the motorway then it dropped to 35 and pretty much stayed there over a 16 mile trip.

On a 200 mile run on the motorway a few weeks back, eco on and cruise I only got 33!

I've only owned the car since Jan. I've never owned a dsg before and my last car was a mk1 2005 vrs with stage 2 (240bhp/300lbft). My mk1 was way better on juice.

Over a tank my old mk1 would give me 33ish which isnt far off quoted figures. I realise 44mpg combined that skoda quote is not realistic, however I dont seem to get in the 40s even on a run let alone combined.

As per my Fuelly, pretty much the same as you.  I can get 40 on a sensible run, and mid 30's on weekends away to Dorset, but a fair chunk of mine is four miles home to work in stop-start traffic.

It all depends what motorway speed you're doing. I tend to run at around a GPS of 70-74mph (speedo reading is usually higher). The odd spurt or slow down is inevitable due to traffic. With 11000 on clock mpg is around 34-38, town 30-32. With my 1.8 mk2 manual L&K's average motorway was up to 40 max on a long run, ie Northeast to Birmingham and beyond. Town 34-36. Given different size engine & gearbox, acceptable I suppose. Manufacturers keep claiming better mpg when a new model comes out, but in reality im not so sure, unless it's got sundial acceleration☺

thanks for the replies. So it looks like thats normal then. I guess the old 1.8t was quite frugal then. I get about around 270 miles a tank. Lowest was 250 and highest was 305.

I wonder what the manual's get. TBH I've yet to give my car a long run just usiing the manual option. I wonder if that would make a difference.

Dont get me wrong I'm not too worried about mpg, otherwise I'd of bought a tdi, just curious. ta

The best I had out of the previous vRS was just over 410 miles on a tank full of petrol, that's Guildford - Street - Taunton - Minehead - Blue Anchor - Barnstaple via Lynmouth & Ilfracombe - Tiverton - Taunton - Blue Anchor - Raleghs Cross - Blue Anchor - Minehead and I still had another 25-30 miles of fuel available.

That was last years holiday, I reckon I could possibly have got to 450 miles if I hadn't been a lead foot on a couple of occasions.

This one so far is doing around about 25-27, but has only got 475 on the clock so far.

The government tests for mpg changed between the mk1 and mk3 VRS. I used to achieve 85% of the published figures, now it's 66%. Hopefully the next generation of tests will be more real world than pure theoretical laboratory only figures.

Same as you, i work 10 miles from home and can see 30 if I'm careful.

My long term average over the first 1000 miles is 27mpg

My vRS TDI manual is hovering around  a calculated 40 MPG since car delivered in Feb, now has 1700 miles on clock.

Stop/Start on 50% of 20 mile commute and mixed driving styles 70% granny 30% rather not comment   .

The quoted figures are optimistic but they do say the DSG TDI is about 5MPG worse off.
