Hello everyone.

 

As the winter went off its way and temperature is rising, my beloved car has started to make strange noises which it was not making during winter (I am owner of the car since January, so this is my first summer)

1st) After turning engine off, strange noise is coming from the direction of front wheels

- It sounds like a hydraulic boot opening, kinda reminds of how Air suspension is trying to keep the steady altitude. Which is nonrealistic for SII

- repeats about 15 times in 5 second intervals, then go off

 

2nd) When Engine is heated (80 - 100 degrees of Cel. Oil temperature) start up is not so clean

- This one would probably needs sound recording ... will add later

- To me it sounds like sound of steel running against the steel, without the oil (which is not good)

- Checked the oil, sits steady in the middle of the scale

 

I am running with SII 1.8TSI , 50 000 miles 

 

Has anybody noticed these strange noises before ? If so, I would be happy if you point me in the right direction, whether it is normal or I should worry.

 No2 Sounds to   me like your water pump belt is slipping, when was it last changed and water pump too?

I just checked the service history and only coolant pump with its running belt has been changed at 31000 miles.

 

So the water pump and its belt have not been changed yet.

It has been changed then, the coolant pump is the water pump they just call it that

Ahhh, slick name it is then.

Hello everyone.

 

As promised, here is a video of the noise mentioned above. Sorry for the quality, I have used only phone.

The noise is present on the start up only when engine is warmed up (80 Degrees of Celsius and up).

Started with the beginning of Spring (During winter I had no such problem)

 

In the meantime I have changed Engine Oil and all filters ...

I do not have any water leaks.

 

If somebody recognizes the source of this weird sound I would be very thankful  :clap:
