Plasti dip chrome grille

Featured Replies

Is it possible to remove the grille via the torx and spray the grill surround when it's still attached? Not sure about prying it off...seems a little delicate and I don't want to break the clips...I can imagine they're a bit of a fooka to remove without breaking. Only wondered if plasti dipping this way would still look half decent. Ideally I'd like to remove the chrome surround entirely.

I suppose you could but it is surprising easy to seperated the grille sections. I've plasti-dipped mine but it only lasted an hour or so blasting rondo the track before it peeled off.

It's all good. I just removed the front completely and managed to turn it over so I could get to the clips easily...didn't break one! Happy days

I masked off the surrounding areas and inner fins when i did mine and it came out great. Any overspray just peels off anyway. Been on for almost a year and only now are stone chips making it look a bit tired. May peel it all off and re-apply soon

Every one rants and raves about the plasti dip, so thought I'd try it for myself. If it's no good I'll get the old devilbiss out and prime it then satin.

A year isn't too bad then really...especially for a temporary coating.

Bearing in mind i drive 25k miles a year so i dont think its too bad either :)

I did mine with halfords plasti dip equivalent, been on 3 months no issues. I do mainly spirited motorway miles.

I think its essential to clean well before, i also wiped down with isopropyl

If you use the plastidip primer it is then a permanent finish
