Boot Storage

Featured Replies

Hi,

So immediately inside the boot effectively inside behind bumper there's a rectangular opening with 2 clips?

Is this for triangle storage? If so do Superskoda have the right part?

You need one that fits that specific slot. The non-Skoda one I had didn't fit.

The Skoda part number for the correct size is GGA 700 001A. Skoda do others, but they won't fit.

Yes thats the one (which was the same for the MKII Superb)

Does it not come as standard? What are the dimensions? Can check my current car to see if the one I have will fit the Skoda on order.

Hi,

In view of the safety warnings ( motorways ) and at least in the case of ours being lightweight ( gets blown around by passing vehicles ) is it worth the bother/expense ?

It's a legal requirement when travelling to some countries. It is inexpensive, takes up no real room and may prove useful (or even save your life) at some point. Cars don't just break down on motorways and if you lose power and lights on a rural road at night you'll be very glad of one!

No as it’s not a legal requirement in the UK to carry one.

On the S3 it sits inside the trim so takes up no room.

Personally all my cars have them... even if I have never needed to use it yet.

Advice from the Highway Code,

Rule 274

If your vehicle breaks down, think first of all other road users and

  • get your vehicle off the road if possible
  • warn other traffic by using your hazard warning lights if your vehicle is causing an obstruction
  • help other road users see you by wearing light-coloured or fluorescent clothing in daylight and reflective clothing at night or in poor visibility
  • put a warning triangle on the road at least 45 metres (147 feet) behind your broken-down vehicle on the same side of the road, or use other permitted warning devices if you have them. Always take great care when placing or retrieving them, but never use them on motorways
  • if possible, keep your sidelights on if it is dark or visibility is poor
  • do not stand (or let anybody else stand) between your vehicle and oncoming traffic
  • at night or in poor visibility do not stand where you will prevent other road users seeing your lights

Bare in mind the stopping distance for a car doing 50mph is 175 feet, and all of a sudden 147 feet does not appear all that far

All good advise Russ but the highway code is not the law... so it still stands that VAG are not obliged to supply them in the UK as they are not a legal requirement.

What's the size of the Skoda official one?

Thanks GIZMO68,

As a retired 30 year Police officer, 28 on traffic and Advanced Grade Class One Instructor, for the Last 12 of those, I am Aware the Highway code is not law. It is still however bloody good advice and time a few people re read it. Sorry if my post appeared un-nessesary but if your having a post about warning triangle storage, I thought people would like to know what the advice on using one would be. Most I have seen used are no more than 20 foot behind the cars as much good as a chocolate fire guard.

More penny pinching I expect, I had a 2000 W reg VW Bora and that had a warning triangle secured to the inside of the boot lid.....should have kept that when I got rid of the car, oh well!!

When I queried it with my Dealer I was told that as the UK did not mandate them (as it doesn't a first aid kit) they were no longer supplied.

Got both free with the Mini and the BMWs. Penny pinching indeed.from VAG!

  • 2 months later...

I got one two triangles included with my car in the delivery price - (in france where they are compulsary) but the skoda supplied ones didn't fit the space - they instead came in a case with velcro attachments, the problem was solved by taking one of the triangles out of its case and it now fits..
