Octy II Excessive Wind Noise

Featured Replies

Had a new Storm Blue FSi Octy II for a couple of months now and love it to bits.

Have had increasingly annoying wind noise/ whistle (not the x-mas sprouts!) appearing to eminate from the rear passenger door/ window region. Sound like your driving with the window just cracked.

Having taken it back to the dealer they admitted, with a sly smile, that this was a known problem and the rear vetical seal on the rear passenger door windows was replaced no hassle. Just had to give them notice of the visit to obtain the bits.

Unfortunately, doesnt seem to have solved the wind noise.

Does anybody have any other experience of "sealing" problems??

Also rear wash wipe pipework came adrift somewhere in the boot area filling the spare tyre weel with my own portable screen wash pond.

Again fixed with no quibble.

Would have done it myself if I had a manual which gae me a hint as to where to go and look! Roll on Haynes and get one sorted.

PS. There is meant to be a list somewhere of Vehicle manufacturers recalls, is there one for Skoda and is there a list in eistance, other than in the dealers hands, which lists upgrades or minor modifications which might solve a lot of the owners gripes. Alot to ask for I know.

Cheers

Had something like that on front drivers side door [same model] and slightly moved in the door catch on the pillar, no more than about 2mm, but it help a lot. Pulls door against seal tighter. Only drawback is need to shut door a little more firmly.

Any manufacter that has a safety related issue - has to report it to the department of transport - they then have to inform owners in writing.

This DOES NOT apply to vehicle updates or improvements - these are usually kept in house, and quite often will only be done if the fault is apparent - some minor updates are carried out when cars visit the dealership for service - you may not even be told as most of the time these updates make no noticable difference to the car.

I have exactly the same problem - my dealer is looking at it in the next couple of weeks when it goes in for a service. If they fix it I'll let you know.

I had this problem. It was found to be the rear passenger door quarter-light post. They were installed slightly out of true and this was cured by my local dealer. Took a while to locate, even had the salesman sitting in the back whilst driving along the road.

As above - dealer fixed it. There is a notice to dealers on how to fix this as a known problem. My dealer said the factory had fixed the problem now so I suppose there were a rash of l/h rear doors made by a defective robot or something.

I used to hear the noise behind me, but always thought it was speaker hiss from the door speaker behind me.

It was only whan I had my parents in the car (and hence no radio on!) that I realised I could still hear it.

At least now I know it's a known problem, I can get the dealer to fix it.

Tried again with the dealer to identify the source of the wind noise.

Unfortunately their tech's can't hear anything.

Did geta freebe 2.0 Tdi for the day out of it. Hmmmmmmmmmmm Fun!

Looks like its a long week end with some electrical tape and the girlfriend driving up and down the bypass to try and locate it myself!
