Water in footwell - wet around clutch footrest. where can it be from? Octavia mk1

Hi, I've hunted through the forums and investigated several things. I found and cleared a blocked sunroof drain and unblocked the drain under the front drivers wheel arch.  Everything appears to drain the right way and the damp on the front upright has gone. The back footwell has dried out after much effort. But the front footwell is still damp, especially around the footrest nearest the gearstick. I've not read about this so if someone can suggest where it might be getting in/travelling from????
