My New car !!

Featured Replies

After a 12 week wait, the wait is over. I picked up my Fabia vRS yesterday from Simpsons Skoda in Colne. It was a 3 hour drive in all  . I used RAC routefinder and it directed me via A595 to the A65 (over the North Yorkshire Moors I expect) and finally got to the dealership.

The Business Manager, Dave Moore, met me there and he dealt with the handover of the car. He was EXCELLENT. He even set the temperature of the heater controls as my Wife and I left. This was a far cry from when I bought a new Renault Megane a while back. (nuff said about that).

Anyway, the car.

Erm... brilliant, how on Earth you keep it below 3,000 rpm to run it in, God only knows. It is simply unbelievable compared to the Megane. The Renault had it's good points but the Skoda excells in all areas.

I've heard all the hype about upgrading the suspension, but I'm not kidding, either Skoda are using a different suspension set up recently (in view of all your comments on the forum) or the Megane was a jelly mould on wheels. :D

The car is excellent through the bends and in fairness, I was not driving that quick, but the bends through the A595 are sharp and the road is great for testing your set up. I'm chuffed the way it feels.

The Xenons are ... fantastic. They are well set up by the look of things as I had previously noticed on thee forum complaints of height set up from the factory.

On a smooth surface (like the Motorway) there is very little noise. I do notice a little rumble on the A roads but I expect that's the norm considering the wide tyres.

The cruise control is a revalation. I had not previously used it and I set it on the M6 at 70mph and literally cruised home at an indicated 64 mpg !!!! :D EH ??? 64 mpg !!! I got no more than 38mpg from the Renault. The computer says I have 455 mile range left. I don't doubt it.

As you can imagine, I could go on and on but not to bore you, I'll sum up this car as BRILLIANT !!

No wonder Skoda dealers are top of the surveys. Simpsons were truly superb.

Ah well, back to running the car in today (below 3000 rpm that is).

Also, I would like to take the oppertunity to thank Chris (Robbo 51) for all his help in the transition from one car to the Skoda. Your help and advice has been INVALUABLE and I truly appreciate everything you've done. Top bloke.

I will go back now to having a Merry Christmas, VERY merry.

Same to you all. Jon. :D

Good to see you're enjoying the new car - good choice of colour by the way.

Interestingly this week I was given a Megane dCi as a company car but only for 6 weeks as I leave at the end of January.

The only problem with the Fabia vRS is that it's so good that now we are trying to find another car to replace the company car very few cars come close.

So far we like:-

Bora 150 PD Sport - only problem is it's not a hatchback and Golfs are overpriced

Focus ST2 - great car but fuel economy.

Octavia 140 TDi Sport - reasonable compromise

Simpsons in Colne/Nelson is a great garage. I bought mine there (I live in Colne). No problems with them whatsoever :D

They get a BIG  from me!

hope you like the car I got mine from there to I had to wait 12 weeks to only problem I had with mine is going from a audi S3 to front wheel drive is wheel spin

Merry Xmas Jon. Getting rid of the Megane WAS the right choice. Just wait till its run in !!!

Enjoy the new car. No speeding though :P

They must sell an aweful lot of vRS's there, I got mine from them too in sept 2004 and i'm in London, although they delivered mine on the back of a flat back. :)

1st class dealer.

Just got mine (wifes) too. Only 4 day wait as from stock. None of your spangly options though. Standard lights seem better than our current cars anyway.

I supose if you count the 2 years I have been badgering her to buy a Skoda I had a long wait.

Dealer said did not need to run it in? Not that there is much point in taking it over 3k RPM anyway with all that sweet torque.

How much did you pay if you don,t mind me asking? All these long distance buyers, is this the dealer for drivethedeal?

Nice one,enjoy your car!
