VAG group "fixed" prices

Featured Replies

Are you thinking of having any fixed price dealer work done (service or MOT)??

I had my VRS MOT'ed and a minor service yesterday at my local VAG service centre.

I collected the car and paid the bill, not thinking too much about it, only that it'll be nice to drive it again rather than the "free" courtesy car (slow fabia).

Later I started to wonder whether the price I paid was correct so I took a look at the Skoda UK web site, which lists MOT for £39 and £139. VW, Audi and Seat websites list £159 for a minor service and variables from £49.99 to £58.50 (VW) for MOT.

Discussion (and partial refund later) shows that the other VAG brands have put up their prices which I had been charged, yet Skoda's increase does not take effect until the 3rd of May.

So if you are planning on having a service, get it done before the 3rd of May, and check what they charge you. :nerd:

How do you know the prices are going up on the 3rd?

It wasn't that long ago it went from £129 to £139.

£139 to £159, that's a 14% increase, that's as bad as a bankers bonus!

£159 for an oil change! Could do it yourself for £30 all in.

But don't forget about the stamp in the service book. Surely that's worth the extra £129 !!

They also vacuumed the inside and would've cleaned it if I let them.

I did it as a bit of leverage should I suffer from the dreaded can chain tensioner, full dealer servicing might help get a better goodwill payment.

In answer to Silver, I was told by the chap who was dealing with it. If not then I recommend all VW, Audi and Seat drivers swap their badges to Skoda one prior to a service at a VAG service centre, save yerself 20 quid!

They also hiccup in your tyre's and spit in your coolant if you take it to a good dealer.
