New mirror Octavia II 2010

Featured Replies

Hi all!

My car (that is a left hand driver) has a fault on the outer mirror. It is electrical, with turn signal light, heating and folding. The problem with this is that when u fold it in and let it back out, the mirror bends all the way forward. It does not stop in position. So I need to adjust it back in, and stop it by hand when it goes back out.

I guess previous owner have had an accident with it, as the turn signal does not work on this side either.

So my question, I have found several replacement mirrors at breakyards, but as the mirror casing is intact, could I swap this over to another complete mirror? Say If I buy a complete mirror that is e.g. red (my car is black), could I then swap the black casing over to the red one? Or will I most likely brake something in the process and mess it up more ;)?

Thanks:)!

I've not had this issue myself but I think you just need to reset the limits on the motor.

When you electrically fold the mirror in does it come to the normal folded place?

Hi!

Yes, when I fold the mirrors, they close like normal.

How do I "reset" the electronic?

I dont know why the turnsignal light on the mirror doesnt work, but I cant see any scratches/marks on the mirror. But previous owner could have reversed the car into a garage or something and been to close to left side and pressed the mirror forward.

I really dont know, I guess a mirror would not take damage from that anyways. Certainly not make the turnsignal light collapse.
