Rear Brakes Problem...

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I changed the rear brake drums and cylinders and in the process the left brake pipe got damaged.

I have searched online and cannot find this part anywhere. Can anyone please help with a part number or a dealer that sells it?

The car is a 2002 Octavia 1.9 TDI (66kw) hatchback.

The brakes on the rear are drum type and the original pipe(damaged one) does not have any flexy parts. It is all one hard pipe.

Many thanks for all the help.

Brake pipes are normally made up locally using your old pipe as a pattern, you can buy them in various straight lengths already flared with nuts and you bend the pipe yourself to match the old pipe, or if you ask your local motor factor or garage they may be able to make one up for you.

You can also buy a roll of brake pipe and a flaring tool and make your own pipes up.

It's normal practice to make one. But a dealer will sell you a pre made one if they still have core stock. With the age of the MK1 some parts are becoming obsolete as the manufacturing obligation has expired.
