Rear Door On Hatch...

Featured Replies

I noticed not long after buying the Octy that the rear hatch door seems to be misaligned. There's definately a much larger 'shutline' gap on the offside of the car and I also think the door is sitting slightly proud at this point. It's not really bothered me that much but I'm sure it's got worse. The door operates smoothly, latches correctly and is well sealed. Anyone else had / got a similar problem??

I'll get the dealer to look at it when it goes in for service but any ideas if it's a big job?? Or would it be better to entrust to a local bodyshop for instance who are more experienced in such matters??

Leave it to the dealer to sort out under warranty.

Surely a warranty issue?

I'd get it sorted though as when you come to sell the car, a future buyer may suspect the missalignment is accident damage.

Warranty Issue agreed.

One thought, the handle used to pull the hatch down is on one side, is this the side thats lower & do you pull fairly hard when you shut the door. I only say that because its a heavy door & you say its getting worse

take it back to the dealer and get it sorted before the bodywork starts getting rubbed etc

Hmm - I have a similar difference in "gap" down the two sides of the boot. The left hand side (not on the pull strap...) seems to stand out more than the right hand side where the strap resides. Similar small "phenomenon" methinks. :(

edited to say it's only a couple of mm - Just by sticking a digit in the gap can I tell - I can get it in tighter on one side (as the bishop said to the actress) :D

no strange panel gaps on my furbie yet 19 hours till i get rid of it though :)

19 hours - You're counting the hours? Woaahhh.

I suppose I should be the same... 710 hours until Jabba appointment. :D

i cant sleep tonight i am aiming for 500 posts

Well, off at a tangent, night before last the plastic trim on the inside of the tailgate fell off mine. Wouldn't mind so much except I'd just been shopping and the corner punctured a tub of a coleslaw.
