Help please DSG Box Fault code

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a fault on the DSG gearbox, garage have given me the code of 18149.

18149 clutch pressure adaption, limit reached.

p1741 002 lower limit exceeded.

Garage has reset adaptation on the box and have changed the oil and filter but still have a fault.

I initially had a fault with DPF being full, on taking it to the garage to be repaired I had noticed that the clutch seemed to be slipping on take off.

Garage has recommended that i take it to a transmission specialist as this is above them.

I have spoken to a couple of places but I don't get a good feeling about this.

I am told It could be clutch pack ass, it could be be the mechatronics unit or even possibly more.

Can anyone give me an indication of where to start?

Many thanks.

It does sound like the clutch pack unfortunately, my suspicion is that the plates are worn, and with the box using oil pressure to operate the clutch pack, there is not enough left for it to engage fully, hence the 18149 code. I am reading that as it is at maximum pressure on the actuators, and cannot physically move any more. Find a local VAG independent to take it to, dealers will be pricey. To be fair the 6 speed is less complex than people think.

Thanks, its done 135k so clutch pack is due, its just that its gone rather quickly and hope its not the pump or mechatronics.

I didn't know if the code relates to a sensor that may of failed.

135k is good for one of them, usually hear of them going at about 70k

Oh OK, I just been told 150k is rough estatimate, but suppose 135k isn't far away!
