Paintjob/Bodywork advice needed! :)

Featured Replies

Hey there guys! I've been browsing this website for a while, but finally decided to register tonight looking for some advice :)

So basically, I got my driver's licence 3 years ago. Been driving my parent's Octavia ever since, and recently, since my folks got themselves a new car, the beautiful Octavia 1U has been gifted to me. No need to say I fell in love with it, and finally, I can call her my very own baby :)

But let me get to the case. The car is in a really good condition, never had a problem with it but there's one thing bothering me. I'm from Bosnia and the roads here are pretty awful so basically, if you drive behind someone for an extended period of time (12 years to be exact) = RIP paintjob, tiny pebbles flying everywhere. My hood looks like the freaking moon filled with craters!

So I was wondering, since I'm a student on a budget, is there any cheap, DYI kind of way of fixing them? I don't have any experience doing anything related to bodywork so far, but I'd love to give it a try, how hard can it be? :) Sorry for being so chatty, I'm simply so excited, can't wait to give my baby her well deserved makeover. Any advice is more than welcome, thanks in advance fellas!

You can get dent pullers for yourself, the suction type things. I've not used one to be honest and without the proper tools and skills I doubt you'd get small dents to look much better. Can you not just put a bonnet bra on it? Respray a good used bonnet to swap?

The other option if you're not too worried about having a different colour bonnet is to vinyl wrap it - that should hide some of the dents and also protect the paint underneath stopping the old rust worm taking hold

Oh yeah forgot about wrapping lol

Don't bother trying to paint it, it will never look as good as a professional job, and look worse than it does already.

Another option is finding second hand parts in the correct colour
