2.0 TDi (BKD) Oil Pressure Warning

Featured Replies

I've recently rebuild the BKD Engine in my Octavia as the cam belt tensioner failed and damaged the head. On it's first run since being rebuilt, it flashed up with 'Oil Pressure Engine off! Owner's Manual', it's got enough oil as I serviced it at the same time.

Has anybody else had similar issues and if so, what was the fault behind it?

Cheers

Yes, I had the same, suspected faulty sensor as level was fine, I bought an analogue pressure gauge and tested pressure by cranking, zero pressure.  So one option, take off the sump and have a look, oil pickup pipe was completely clogged with black Sh1te

turned out it was silicon from the sealant used on the gasketless sump !!!  And it had never been off before, so draw your own conclusions, to be fair I had used engine flush twice in 3 years and 78K miles with this engine, don't know if this attached the silicon.

Washed out the pick-up with petrol, dried it off and refitted it after a thourough clean of the sump again with petrol.  Bought the correct sealant from VAG and put it back together - no dramas, all good - glad it flagged up when it was sitting at idle in nthe drive with my diagnostic running after an EGR valve change rather than 70 mph on MotorWay.

you have to investigate it and DONT drive it, easy enough to do, just watch the two bolts behind the flywheel. trickey to get them out and even more so to get them back in without them falling inside the bellhousing meaning you have to take it all off again, yes I did.

Hi Mike

I'm actually p/ex the car this coming Friday, I need to get it about 60 miles from where I am. I've heard that Wynns Engine Flush does a good job so I'll try that before taking the sump off!!

Cheers

Chris
