Hello all, I am completely new to this forum but am.hoping someone may be able to help with my cold start problem.

Basically if I leave the car over night it takes ages to crank over and start, I pump the accelerator peddle, after a while the oil light will flash on and eventually it will start, once it starts it runs a little rough untill up to temperature, however once it has started for the first time, it will start perfectly until left over night.

I had it put on a diagnostic machine and it came back with fault code p0302 (misfire cilinder 2) so after looking on this forum I replaced the injector wiring loom, it made no difference, I have also changed the fuel filter and all of the fuel hose and clips in case there was an air leak! I am now at a loss, it was suggested that it may be the injector seals, however I was also told if this was the case there would be oil in the fuel filter which there isn't. ....... Help...

I wondered that, I will put a multimeter across them and have a look.

Is it trying to start or sounding dry. Might be fuel pump drawing air and letting the fuel run back. Instead of cranking it, turn the ignition on and make sure you can hear the fuel pump firing up and sending fuel along from the tank. Once it stops, turn the ignition off again. Do it half a dozen times before you crank it and see if it starts quicker. Then again could be an injector and need some cleaner ran through it, like the old millers diesel sport or something.

It is trying to start, It first happened when I swapped the fuel pumps over, because I had a squeak and thought it was the fuel pump failing, however it did it that once and then didn't do it for a couple of months, and then it has been doing it more and more often, and now every day. I swapped the fuel pump back to the original one, incase the second hand ebay pump wasn't making pressure, but no change!

May be the secondhand pump had some dirt in it and has got in to the fuel system?

Yes I can definatley here the fuel pump on turning the ignition. I did the ignition on and off test for about 20 turns, and I think it did reduce the time slightly, but I could just be imaging it.
